SCOTCH COLLEGE
In January 2023, Scotch College unveiled the $27 million Purruna Spencer Newton Centre, a cutting-edge facility designed to support holistic wellbeing. This state-of-the-art complex features indoor courts, fitness studios, a swimming centre, and adaptable classroom and consultation spaces. Through a partnership with YMCA South Australia, a leading not-for-profit organisation, the College has expanded community access to these exceptional amenities.

LUMINAIRES FEATURED Marvik Surface Facade and Light Linear PT Street and Area Luminaires
The name “Purruna” honours the Kaurna people, Adelaide’s First Nation, reflecting their philosophy of holistic wellbeing—a balance of physical, mental, and emotional health, as well as deep connections with others and the land. In addition to this cultural tribute, the Centre recognises two influential figures in Scotch College’s history, Raymond Spencer and Dr John Newton, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in realising this project.
LIGMAN luminaires were selected for two key areas of the project, where precise optics and durability were essential.
In the outdoor car park, Light Linear PT post-top luminaires provide bright, uniform illumination with superior spacing, thanks to their advanced MicroVOS optics. Beyond functionality, their sleek design enhances the project’s contemporary aesthetic. The Light Linear PT is a complete solution, integrating both the luminaire head and pole for a seamless finish.
For the main pool area, LIGMAN Marvik wall lights deliver ambient illumination in a demanding indoor aquatic environment. High humidity, along with airborne salts and chemicals, can accelerate fixture degradation. However, with high-purity LM6 die-cast aluminium construction and multiple powder coat options, LIGMAN luminaires offer exceptional resilience, making them an ideal choice for such conditions.
