BARTON PARK
Barton Park Precinct has undergone a $47 million transformation, reopening as a vibrant hub for sports and recreation in Sydney’s South. Once a simple sports field, it now features world-class facilities designed by multidisciplinary firm MODE, including FIFA-standard soccer fields, a grandstand, a clubhouse, and upgraded amenities. Overseen by Bayside Council, this redevelopment goes beyond improving infrastructure—it fosters a stronger sense of community and supports active lifestyles.

LUMINAIRES FEATURED Odessa Floodlight and Prague Bollard
Lighting experts Cundall have elevated the park’s design by incorporating LIGMAN Odessa projectors to illuminate the stadium. This thoughtful lighting approach highlights the structure’s architectural features while providing optimal visibility for evening activities.
The park features wetlands that serve as a habitat for the Green and Golden Bell Frog, a species requiring careful environmental consideration. Ecological assessments of the area highlighted the importance of minimising light spill to protect the sensitive ecosystem. At the same time, the park incorporates a vital pedestrian and cycle path connecting the Bayside area to the city, presenting a unique challenge. The solution came in the form of LIGMAN Prague Bollards, equipped with MicroVOS optics. These fixtures provide effective pathway illumination while maintaining minimal light spill, successfully balancing functionality with ecological preservation.
Barton Park Precinct’s reimagining demonstrates how innovative design and collaboration can create spaces that enrich local life, setting a new benchmark for urban development.
